Welcome to the No Paddling Back website!
From Source to Sea, "No Paddling Back", is a fundraising event being undertaken by 2 Moulton College further education lecturers in Countryside Management and an employee of the Environment Agency, by paddling down the River Nene from source to sea in an open Canadian canoe. The venture is planned to start on the 10th August 2008.
The journey is approximately 120 miles from the river's source at Naseby to “Crab's Hole” in the Wash at Sutton Bridge. The first 15 miles will be back-packed from Naseby to Northampton before taking to the water at the confluence at West Bridge, Northampton. Then, with 37 locks and 97 miles of paddling and camping on the river bank at night, the trip should take approximately 7 to 8 days.
The money raised will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. It is hoped that we will raise up to £2000 for this organisation.
Some scientific work will be done by looking at endangered species, in particular the Eurasian Otter, and monitoring for invasive water plants such as the Japanese Knotweed and the Himalayan Balsam.
Any donations to this worthwhile venture would be greatly received. Please see our JustGiving web page.
